Who Are We?
Hype & Genius is an award-winning social enterprise, dedicated to empowering creatives and dismantling exploitation in the industry.
Our Mission
Our mission is to remove inequality in the creative industry so that creatives can have careers free from exploitation.
We work in a 2-fold way:
1. With organisations to lobby for change, consult on policy, uphold our benchmark standard and curate new experiences so that we can ensure better practices and a less exploitative creative industry.
2. Directly with the creatives themselves through training, incubators, access to spaces and equipment, events and exclusive opportunities.
We believe that in order to make change in the industry, it's important to be involved at all levels.
Why?
The creative industry is exploitative.
Creative careers are more underpaid than any other industries, especially for up and coming new talent. For example, creatives are more likely to do unpaid work - and often a lot of creatives are not credited for their work. These issues disproportionately impact Black, female, disabled and young creatives.
We want to level the playing field.
Areas of focus
Music: We work at all levels of the music industry, from production training, writing camps, artist development, events and music business masterclasses and training courses. Join Hype & Genius to be part of a thriving community in the music industry, where we create opportunities for artists to showcase their talent and build connections in the dynamic world of music.
Fashion: Our fashion courses range from design, to fashion entrepreneurship, styling and beyond. Experience the pulse of the fashion scene with Hype & Genius as we build a community that celebrates creativity, offering exciting opportunities for aspiring fashion designers, models, and enthusiasts.
TV/Film: Partnering with the likes of Warner Bros. Discovery, Garden Studios and working with some of the best directors and producers in the country, we’re able to support aspiring creatives in all roles and levels of the production industry. Hype & Genius is your gateway to the world of TV and film, providing a supportive community and unique opportunities for those passionate about storytelling, acting, and film production.
Performing Arts: Dive into the performing arts community at Hype & Genius, where we foster talent and provide platforms for performers to shine, whether in theatre, dance, or any other form of live entertainment.
